Bao Zheng 包拯 (ca. 999 – 1062) served for 25 years as an upright and dedicated Judge, and later gained the honorary title of "Justice Bao" (包青天). Bao Zheng is still remembered and celebrated today as an example of righteous judge in China.

About Legal Branches

Fǎxìnating's backgrounder on Chinese Law is divided into 5 branches:

1) Civil Law here includes China's 2021 Civil Code (i.e. Civil Rights, Personality Rights (PIPL), Contract-Torts and Family Law), Labor Law, Property Law including Intellectual Property (IP), Trust and Civil Procedure.

2) Corporate Law, albeit a subpart of Private Law, is treated individually and encompasses Corporate Governance & Compliance, Competition Law, Trade and Tariffs, Investment Law, Bankruptcy Law, Restructuring and Taxation.

3) Public Law comprising Administrative Law and Constitutional Law.
4) Criminal Law that covers Criminal provisions and Criminal procedure.
5) International Law i.e. both Public and Private Chinese International Law.
